Random Egyptian Treasures

Hey y'all, I don't actually say y'all, but it does have a nice ring to it when you write it down. Reminds me of the American South (which I do love).
Anyway, here's a really quick look for you that I created before heading out for a delicious teppanyaki Japanese food.

I used the Egyptian Treasures collection by Meow, although I don't remember exactly which ones. Oops, my bad! Oh well, here they are for your eyeshadow loving pleasure!

OMG HAI!

Hello! I haven't stopped to post here in awhile, although I do miss it dearly. You see, work and school have completely monopolized my time. Every morning I wake up to go somewhere to do something...every day, including weekends. I just finished my midterm today, and thought I really need to play with my makeup. I've been so busy that I've hardly worn anything on my face. That, and I got told at work to tone my makeup down (BOO!). After that incident, I toned it down for a bit...but I've recently started amping up the colour again despite what my manager said. I mean, why can't feel girly while wearing an ugly, formless uniform? He's just old fashioned...my guests always comment on my eyeshadow, and seem to love it!

Today I got some mail from Meow Cosmetics. It's actually the first time I've ordered from them, and I'm very impressed! I've had my eye on the Egyptian Treasures collection for awhile now, and finally buckled when they offered free shipping a couple weeks back. I love them all.

I ordered four full sizes in: *Royal, *Artifact, *Anubis, and *Scarab

I LOVE scarab. It's a metallic lime green, and it's to die for.

Here's a look I did today:

I used:

All my usuals on my face. Nothings changed with my routine.

Eyes: TFSI....I didn't use Pixie Epoxy for this one, but it still turned out REALLY vibrant and stuck well.

Lid: Meow Artifact

Brow bone: Meow Treasure

Crease: Meow Royal

Lining lower lid: Meow Scarab

Eyeliner for upper lid: Fyrinnae Bastet mixed with some eyeliner mixing medium by MAC. I also lightly lined the outer corner of bottom lid.

Mascara: Some random Revlon one.

Lips: My own creation!

oOOo, and I died my hair black. Never mind my nasty looking bangs, I went them prior to this and forgot to dry them. My bad.

Lost in Faerie: Earth Faerie

Hello! Sorry for my absence, the last couple weeks have been crazy awesome, what with my new job in a fancy restaurant and the ending of the summer semester!

I'm so sad that Aromaleigh is now closed. I will miss them. Luckily, I stocked up on all of my favourite colours. I will be making a post on my final order later.

This look was super simple. I just used Donella and Zanna from Lost in Faerie overtop of some TFSI. I used all of my usuals on mah face, and a touch of Aromaleigh's lip balm (which I still heart so much).

Pastel Faerie: Lost in Faerie look 2

This look reminds me of ice-cream. I must say, out of the entire Lost in Faerie collection by Aromaleigh, Elysia is my absolute FAVOURITE shade. I wanted to snatch it up before it sells out, so I purchased a full size of it. Buy this colour, there's nothing quite like it. I imagine that it would be quite flattering on all skin tones, and it goes well with almost any other colour eyeshadow.

Dammit eyeliner! I looks smooth in the mirror, then when I see it in a picture it's all jagged-like. Oh well, pretend it's smooth, k?

Lost in Faerie: Look 1

Hi everyone! I've finished my exams for this week and am excited to show you some new shadows I've received from Aromaleigh.

Kristen was kind enough to send me a set of Lost in Faerie samples, and I have to say, these are some of the prettiest shadows I've seen from Aromaleigh. They are soft, dreamy watercolours packed with sparkle.

Many bloggers have already swatched them, so I will be taking a different approach (since I'm in Canada, I received my samples late in the game). In the next few weeks I will be creating looks using only the new Lost in Faerie collection.

Colour Descriptions:

Naida - Soft and shimmery silvery-lavender. Silver and violet sparkle. This on is a must have for full size.

Pherenice - Soft, plush heathery blue. Kind of stormy looking. Packed with silver sparkle.

Xylia - Stormy dark purple. Coral and blue sparkle.

Rosina - A lovely shimmery light cream-pink. Light blue and coral sparkle. Fabulous to highlight with.

Meliora - This is a freaking awesome blue. Its a mid-toned blue loaded with violet sparkle. Love!!

My most favourite colours out of this batch have to be Naida and Meliora.

I Just can't get enough light blue and purple. They go so well together, and remind me of flossy candy clouds...

Moar Fire Opal Love!

One of my favourite eyeshadows of all time is Fyrinnae's 'Fire Opal.' It's a beautiful deep bronze with an orangy sheen, and is slightly metallic. The colour is very flattering, and I love incorperating it into my looks.

I'm at school today, just chillin' in the computer library after my class got cancelled. I should really start checking out my university's class cancellation list before I leave the house.

Three Looks in One Post!

While I was uploading my pictures, I realized just how many looks I'd taken pictures of, and how little I've been posting them. So without further or do, here's a fabulous 3 looks in 1 post! I will be running through them fairly quickly, noting the colours used and any special colour placement. All of my looks in this post consist of my usual HG's...TFSI, NYC Liner, Merle Norman Brow Powder, Sephora Collection Mascara, all of which I will be referring to as my 'usuals' in later posts.

"But Ashley, why haven't you been posting?" Well, I'll show you one of my distractions:

I'm a cat person to the core, and our house is stalked at all hours of the day by 4 beautiful (albeit ridiculous) cats. This little cutie pie, a jack Russel terrier which goes by the name of Sadie, is the dog of my sister's new bf. Hence, Sadie has officially adopted us as her new people. Plus, she really likes the bird. I live in a zoo and I love it!

I've also been looking for a new job lately. My current one blows pretty hard, as no hours are available for me (or any of the servers), and business is stupidly slow. When I go looking for a new job, my looks tend to be slightly neutral with a pop of colour, so to 'conform' ever so slightly to the world of customer service.

Although my looks for job hunting are toned down, they are still distinctly 'me'.

Metallic Green and Gold Love

Hello, hello! Here's a metallic look I made earlier this week. Schools been kind of lame, as I've had 2 midterms and a short (thank god) paper due today, hence why I'm posting this late. Metallic eyeshadow is so fantastic, I'm not sure why I haven't gotten Meow's Egyptian Treasures eyeshadows. The colours look so amazing. At some point I would definitely like to get my hands on a few of them.

-Sparkly metallic brown applied around the edge of 'Medieval Haunting' and blended a little. Use this colour on the outer v and on the bottom lash line.

Forest Elf Adventure

A couple weeks ago I attended the Faeries and Fools Costume Carnival, which you can read more about on my personal blog over here. Today I want to give you a quick rundown of the makeup my friend and I wore to the event. And yes, we are both Forest Elves complete with fabulous ears.

*Clean up lines with Q-tips and makeup remover
*Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita Powders in 'Starbright' - Used to highlight brow bone
*Merle Norman Brow Powder - Brown
*Sephora Collection Lash Plumping Mascara in 'Black'

Face:

*Purely Cosmetics Mineral Foundation in 'Fair Maiden' - Applied with a damp flocked sponge in downward strokes
*A whole bunch of Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita Starbright Powders - I mixed 'Starbright' and 'Nightbright' and applied over Pixie Epoxy on my cheeks. I also dusted it on my forehead, nose and chin, as well as my collerbones.

And of course I had to do makeup for my BFF. Unfortunately, we kind of ran out of time to do her look as we were on a boat doing our makeup and had limited time, but I still think it looks pretty cool.

Hello, hello! This newest eye art was inspired by my newest Aromaleigh samples, one of which is entitled "Sapphire." I pared it with the silvery-gray shadow, and I quite like how it turned out. I love blue eyeshadow.

I want to do a throwback to the early-mid 90's. Remember the Goosebumps books? Well, after I created this look, I thought it looked a lot like the covers of those books, this one in particular!!

I read most of these books as a kid, and was obsessed with spooking myself at night.

Used:

Eyes: *Two Faced Shadow Insurance - Applied all over lid

*Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - Lightly smoothed over lid..

*Fyrinnae Shadows - 'We're All Mad Here' and 'Fujiro' - Pick up 'we're all mad here' and place it all over the lid. Layer 'Fujiro' into the crease and out towards the hairline. Clean up lines with makeup remover and Q-tips.

*Aromaleigh Shadow - 'Sylph'- To highlight the brow bone

*NYC Liquid Liner - Winged out slightly

*Sephora Collection Lash Plumping Mascara

*Merle Norman Brow Powder - Brown

Guest FOTD! Glow Faerie

Last weekend my adorable niece came over and we spent some time just having fun and goofing around. One of the big plans we made was for me to give her an extreme makeup-makeover. I think it turned out so cute! She looks like a little glow faerie!

I used:

Eyes: *Two Faced Shadow Insurance all over the lid

*Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a small amount brushed onto the lid

*Fyrinnae 'Herbivore' patted onto the epoxy.

*Aromaleighs 'Trillium' was then applied to the crease, and gently brushed out towards the hairline.

*(The Infamous) Archetype Cosmetics Shadow 'Betty's Bangs' mixed with MAC Mixing Medium, and used as a liner. I winged it out with a small angled brush.

*Sephora Pressed Shadow 'Aspen Summit' used to line the bottom lash line.

*Sephora Collection Plumping Mascara

Cheeks: *Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita Powder - Starbright, applied over a touch of P.Epoxy so the sparkle would stick. This looked so wonderful over her youthful 11year old skin.

Lips: *Random clear gloss. No colour was needed on her lips.

She's always a beautiful girl, with or without makeup. Isn't this a fun look for her? Her cheeks rule.

Ethereal Faerie

I've been working on my liner skillz lately. I've been trying to make my lines smoother and more flow'y.

How To:

*Prep your lids

*Dab some P.Epoxy onto the lid only, smooth it.

*Pick up 'Little Grey Kitten' and pat it all over lid. Once it sets, gently smudge the edges to soften the hard lines.

*With a flat brush, apply P.Epoxy on outer lids and into crease.

*Pat 'Sennyo' where you applied P.epoxy

*Apply some P.epoxy into inner corner-crease with a small flat brush.

*With a small brush, place a bit of 'Herbivore' to into inner-crease to blend the other two colours a bit better.

*Line bottom inner lid with 'Little Grey Kitten'

*Line bottom outer lid with 'Sennyo' and connect it to the upper lid, making a gentle point.

*Clean up shape with Q-tips.

*Apply 'Slyph' with finger onto brow bone to highlight

*Apply liquid liner, wing it out.

*Line, as close to waterline as possible, with liquid liner.

*Apply Mascara/brow powder

*Apply a peachy toned blush into the contour of cheeks. Apply a pinky colour to the apples.

Dramatic Pink and Gold

Sorry I havn't posted anything this week! I've been busy finishing this semester of school. I had to write a twelve page paper about jazz funerals in New Orleans, and a report on my presentation I did in class. But now, I can say YAY THE SEMESTER IS DONE!! But I shouldn't get too happy. The next one starts in a few weeks. Hah, I picked up a copy of 'Civilization IV' to keep me occupied for the next little while. God I love strategy games.

I LOVE these eye colours together.

Here's how I did it:

*Prime eyes.

*Add a dab of P. Epoxy and smooth it on the lid.

*Pick up some 'Meercat' and pat it onto the P.epoxy

*Take some MAC 'Trax,' and brush it into the crease, blend the line of the two colours. They are very similar, so they blend quite easily.

*Clean 'er up with some Q-tips and makeup remover

*Do your brows (lol at mine. I need to get those cleaned up.)

*Put on some liquid liner. I made a heavy line and winged it out

*Put some white liner on your waterline

*Add your mascara

*Do your regular face routine, and apply a peachy toned blush to your cheeks. Apply some lip balm.

*Layer Fyrinnae's 'Ryo Pink' over the balm. I find this helps to give it some better staying power.

*Voila!

Today's makeup is inspired from the new shirt that I bought! Its a cute leopard print t-shirt with a small little studded pocket on the left boob. I love it.

Luckily, my cold left pretty quick, to which I'm glad seeing as I have one more presentation, one paper, and two tests coming up this week in school!!

How To:

*Prime your eyes.

*Pick up the 'Earthy Delights' (shimmery taupe) and brush it all over your eyelid, up to the crease.

*With a fluffy crease brush, pick up 'Thalia Returns' (Darker reddish brown), and blend it into crease and on the outer half of the eyelid.

*Clean up the shape a bit with Q-tips and makeup remover.

*Lightly line the top lash line with the black khol pencil.

*Line the bottom lash line with Annabelle Black Perle liner (basically a medium-gray colour).

*Line the waterline with the same liner.

*Smudge it, make it a bit smokey.

*Clean up any fall out on the cheeks.

*Put on your eyelashes. Add mascara to your existing lashes to blend them together.

*Add liquid liner on top of falsies, wing it out a bit.

*Do up your brows. I wanted strong brows for this look.

*After applying my mineral foundation with a damp cosmetic flocked sponge, I put a bit of medium brown bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks.

*I blended a bit of light pink on top.

*Add some finishing powder if you prefer.

*Put a light coat of lip-balm on your lips.

*Apply Rimmel 'In Vogue.'

I LOVE the lip colour. Its super bright, and stays put all day. I had no problem at all with it. It didn't feather or dry my lips out. It was perfect. Rimmel lipsticks rock my world. I highly recommend this colour.

My semester is finished in a couple of days, meaning I'll have more time to write for my blogs. I can't wait to FINISH. Unfortunately, I am taking summer classes. I'll be taking Forensic Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology: First Nations Cultures of Canada, and Intro to Criminology. Interesting classes, but kinda lame that that's what I'll be doing all summer. Oh well.

Glitter Fail

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend. My weekend was full of sniffles and a sore throat. My exam on Friday stressed me out and made me sick. I attempted to do my makeup while I was sick, and it turned out kinda blah to me. I like the colours, and I LOVE the gold glitter, but next time I will be doing something a little different. Not to mention that my steady hand was off from the cold. Oh well, it happens.

Rainy Day

Every so often, inspiration strikes you so hard that you have to channel it into something straightaway. This look is one of them! The second picture down is what I used for inspiration, isn't it beautiful? I am particularely impressed with how this look turned out, and have included extra pictures with and without flash so you can get a good sense of the colour interplay. The ones that are super-vivid were taken by my mom, who has a fancy-shamncy camera.

Steps:

*Dab P.E. on the inner corner of the top lid, and blend it upwards and out, under the eyebrow. Smooth it.

*Pick up the 'Rainbow Blue' and with long strokes, blend it up and out.

*Dab P.E. on the rest of the top lid, and smooth it out past the eye.

*Pick up 'Conjunction,' and pack it on (heavily) all over, and out. It's going to look crazy at this stage.

*Dab the P.E. along the lower lash line. Smooth it.

*Pick up the 'Rainbow Blue' with a short, blunt smugger brush and pack it on, underneath the eye. Extend it outwards in a sweeping motion.

*Clean up your lines. Grab your Q-tips and makeup remover and have at it! I cleaned mine up by dragging the Q-tip from the tip of the eyebrow, and made a soft circle around the eye.

*With a smudger brush, pick up some conjunction, and smudge the line you've made so it doesn't look so stark.

*Add a little 'Moonbright' with your finger to the brow bone, and sweep it out towards the hairline.

*Line the waterline with a white khol pencil.

*Do up your lashes.

*Do your foundation. I apply my mineral foundation with a damp, flocked sponge in a downward motion on my face.

*Dab your cheek with P.E. and smooth it around.

*With a blush brush, add a little 'Starbright.'

*Do up your lips.

Egyptian Dark Side

For this look I used:

Eyes: *Two Faced Shadow Insurance

*Fyrrinae Pixie Epoxy

*A non-descript matte black pressed shadow

*Fyrinnae - Bastet

*Sephora pressed shadow - Aspen Summit

*Many Q-tips

*Sephora Collection Lash Plumper Mascara

*Merle Norman Brow Powder - Brown

Face: *Purely Cosmetics Mineral Foundation - Fair Maiden

*Maybelline Mineral Concealer

Steps:

Prep lids.

Apply your matte black shadow, extending out past eyelid. Do not worry about the shape yet.

Dab Pixie Epoxy onto lid and pat it so it evenly covers the black shadow.

Pick up 'Bastet' with dry brush and pat it onto the pixie epoxy, all over the lid.

Dab some Pixie Epoxy on your bottom lid and smudge it along the lash line.

Pick up a smuger-style, dry, brush and pack 'Bastet' along the lash line.

Have a pile of Q-tips and a bottle of makeup remover ready to clean up the shape.

Clean up the top lid first, creating a clean line that extends to the outside of the lid.

Do the same for the bottom lid, and create a nice point on the outside of the lid.

Clean up the inner corners.

Now, add the highlight colour on the brow bone. I had a pearly white shadow, but I would have preferred a white with gold flecks. Alas, I do not have this colour, so white will have to do.

Take a very thin brush, pick up some 'Bastet,' and re-draw the lines you've made on the upper-lid....just in case any of that highlight colour tried to rain on its parade. We want the colours seperate and dramatic!!

Line your waterline with a black pencil liner.

Add Mascara.

I did not use liner, but feel free to play it up as you see fit.

Add foundation, blush, lippy.

This look feels Vampiric, with a heavy Egyptian influence. Two of my favorite things.

I LOVE THE GOLD SPARKLES IN BASTET!!

Easter Watercolours

I decided to do something a little different today. Using inspiration from Easter, and all the associated pastel-bunny colours, I created this watercolour, airy look.

I used:

Eyes: *Two Faced Shadow Insurance

*Aromaleigh Mineral Shadows - Serenade, Glowing Luna, Flying Flower, Air and Light, and Ephermal Violet

Steps:

*Prep your lids.

*Take a little Pixie Epoxy, and dab it into the inner-v. Pat it up into the crease a little, and down into the lower lid.

*Pick up some 'Glowing Luna', and pat it onto the areas you applied the P.E.

*Pat some P.E. onto upper lid, and into crease.

*Put 'Serenade' onto this area, extending out past the lid a bit.

*I did not use P.E. for the brow bone area. I just brushed a little 'Flying flower' all over the brow bone with a brush, and used 'Air and Light' to highlight the middle of the bone with my finger. I also applied a bit of 'Air and Light' just under the beginning of the eyebrow, on the inside of the nose.

*Line the tear duct area with the white pencil.

*Apply mascara. I tend to make a mess of my eyes with mascara, so I usually line afterwards to keep it looking clean.

*Mix up a little MAC mixing medium with 'Ephemeral Violet,' and create a small line from the middle of the upper lid, out. I did not want anything to take away from the brightness of the 'Glowing Luna.' I love that colour!

*Do your brows, foundation, blush, finishing powder, lips, etc.

Prep your lids.

Apply 'Amarante' on your upper lid up to the crease.

Apply 'Vigil of Change' into the crease, and extend out past lid.

Apply 'Aspen Summit' in the crease.

Apply 'Amarante' on the bottom lash line.

Apply 'Aspen Summit' on the bottom of the inner-v.

Reapply 'Amarante' to the upper lid, to intensify the colour.

Apply a thin line of liner, I didn't wing this one, but I'm sure it would look good even if it was.

Apply mascara.

Apply fountation, concealer, blush, finishing powder, lippy.

For this look I used:

Steps:

Prep your lids.

One eye at a time, apply Pixie Epoxy over the area you will apply the shadow.

Apply Clara all over lid.

Repeat with other eye.

Put a dab of Pixie Epoxy on the outer lid and halfway into the crease and pat it gently so not to mess up the base shadow.

Pick up Futura's Cloud onto a crease brush and gently pat it into the crease and extend outside the lid.

With a smaller, rounder brush, put a little moonset into into the inner crease and blend.
Mix up a little MAC Mixing Medium with a bit of Futura's Cloud.

Line the bottom lid first, and wing it out.

Line the top lid, and wing it out to match up with the bottom wing. Yup, its gonna be dramatic.

Line a little bit of clara with a dry smudger brush to the inner bottom lash line.

Clean up lines with a Q-tip dipped in makeup remover.

Highlight browbone with a bit of shimmery white shadow.

Apply Foundation, eyebrow powder, blush, lippy.

I need to get my eyebrows waxed!

Spring Flower Eyes

For this look I used:

Eyes: *Two Faced Shadow Insurance*Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy*Aromaleigh Mineral Shadowns in Clara, Moth, and Trillium. *Maybelline Extra Volume Collagen Mascara (this stuff is very hard to work with. It clumps easily and needs to be brushed a 1000 times before it looks nice. I only use it because I hate throwing out makeup!)*Merle Norman Eyebrow Powder in BrownFace: *Purely Cosmetics Pure Mineral Foundation in "Fair Maiden"I applyed it with a slightly damp flocked sponge. *Maybelline Mineral ConcealerLip: *Aromaleigh Aromatherapy Lip Balm in French Cocoa Bliss*Aromaleigh Botanical Lipstick in GalaI mixed Trillium with MAC's Eyeliner Mixing Medium.
First, I put on a thin layer of TFSI.Then, one eye at a time, I put on a small dab of P.Epoxy and rubbed it all over the area that I was going to put the colour on. Let it get tacky.Clara is used all over the eyelid and extend it outwards past lid. Repeat on other eye.
Afterwards, put on a bit of moth in the inner corners, inner 1/3, and use to highlight the browbone. Use more P.Epoxy if necessary. Usually, you don't need to at this stage because the new colours can kind of stick to the colour you put on first.
Blend them a little bit. Wet your brush a little, just to dampen it, if blending is difficult.
Clean up your lines with a Q-tip dipped in a bit of makeup remover
Lastly, I used trillium to line the upper lid and lower inner lid.
The outer lower eyelid is lined with clara (dry brush).
Again, clean up any mistakes with your Q-tips.
Apply Mascara

Apply mineral foundation however you like. I use a damp a flocked sponge to apply mine, but thats because I like more coverage.

Fill in brows.

Apply concealer, blush, and lipstick.

Not the greatest picture of me, but this way you can see the makeup in context of my face.
